It's been a while...

When I created this blog, I had hopes that Ashley would keep it updated pretty frequently, but that isn't quite working out, so I figured I better jump in here. So, what's going on in the world of Jason? Well, I don't think I mentioned it, but I am going to be running in the Twin Cities Marathon on October 2nd. I never thought in my life I would ever try to do such a thing, but here I am. I have enjoyed the distance running I have been doing and instead of doing the sane thing and going to run in a 5K or 10K race, I figure I should push myself and just jump right into running 26 miles. Honestly, I could go run a 5K race, but it wouldn't be that rewarding since I have been running around a 10K distance for a while never every other night. Well, I have had to stop that to do my marathon training program. It basically builds you up each week; increasing your mileage. I actually had to slow down what I had been running in order to start the program. I never thought I would say that running 3 miles is too easy.

At any rate, the long run in week 5 which I did today was a 10 mile run. It felt really good, though I was starting somewhat tired by the end. That is mostly because I didn't stop for a break, which I would do during the marathon. I am aiming to walk while I drink my sports drink about every 6.5 miles. If you are interested in the program, I am following the one at http://www.halhigdon.com/marathon/novices.html. If you want to follow my progress, I just did the Saturday 10 mile run on week 5.

This Thursday, I leave for another trip to Israel. This one is a little over a week, unlike the 2 weeks I spent the last time. I plan on taking the tour to Jerusalem this time, just to check it out. Sure, I am not religious, but history is interesting and this area is very old. I will be renting a car as well, so I will be doing my first driving over there. They drive fairly crazy, so it should be interesting. Last time I went, the guy I went with drove everywhere. I will try to update the blog very often while I am there and give you updates on my time there. It is a very lovely country and I enjoyed the last time I went there very much. It is too bad we haven't invented teleportation yet, because the plane ride sucks. I fly to New Jersey and then take a 10 hour flight over there. It is almost 12 hours on the flight back. Not fun. Luckily, they are overnight flights, so I at least get to sleep. I pretty much slept the entire way both ways last time.

Well, that is all for today. Going to have a desert to reward myself for the ten miles today.

Do they drive on the "wrong" side of the road there?
